I could blather on about what's the same and what's oh-so-different in Oaxaca since I left 20 months ago (ahem, still thinking the whole pandemic thing was so overblown, ahem) but how about we just use some eye candy for Dia Uno?

Where I live (Santa Fe) we love the hollyhocks that spring from crevices. Here's it's two-toned irises growing in a smidge of dirt!

Instead of sand paintings for DDM, Origens Restaurant made this corn "mandala." I only knocked off a few kernels with my elbow, so I'm feeling pretty good about myself.

Another typical surprise. Yes, an oxymoron, but so true here -- Danza de la Pluma in front of the Cathedral this afternoon.
